PJ Hegarty

PJ Hegarty should be awarded the Impact in Transport – Contractor Award for its successful delivery of the Echo Romeo Taxiway project, which was completed in February 2024.Through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), the project fostered strong collaboration, driving innovation and efficiency in construction. Over 200 personnel worked 175,000 hours across a 10-month, 24/7 operation without a single Lost-Time Injury.Innovative drainage solutions enhanced climate resilience, while alternative pavement materials, including EME2 and SMA, reduced carbon emissions by 500 tonnes. The project's sustainable design optimised aircraft flow, immediately proving its value upon opening – within the first four days, 56% of all arrivals used the new exit. This significantly improved operational efficiency, reduced delays, and cut aircraft fuel emissions, reinforcing Gatwick's long-term sustainability goals.PJ Hegarty has delivered an impressive piece of aviation infrastructure by integrating innovation, safety, sustainability, and efficiency from the project's outset.

Topbond Group

Topbond Group is a civil engineering contractor with a strong presence in the transport sector, known for its innovation and high-quality service. The company has expanded its presence in East Anglia, growing both in staff and operational capacity. A notable project was addressing two separate occurrences of sinkholes on the A1(M) Junction 6 to Junction 7. Topbond quickly undertook investigation works and worked tirelessly with National Highways and Ringway to investigate, consult on design solutions and deliver remediation works in a very short time frame to successfully open the road network to the public with minimal disruption. Our technical expertise and operational speed to deliver emergency schemes within short time frames, safely and efficiently, has put us on the forefront as contractor of choice within the transport sector.
