Michael Contopoulos is a Project Director for Buildings & Civils at Network Rail, responsible for the delivery of all Buildings and Civil Engineering renewal programmes across the Western region, spanning from London Paddington to Penzance. He leads a portfolio of infrastructure investment with annual renewals expenditure of approximately £145 million across buildings, structures and geotechnical assets. With over 21 years of experience in the rail industry, Michael has led the delivery of a wide range of infrastructure programmes, from major renewals and resilience schemes to heritage infrastructure and station improvement projects. His experience spans buildings, structures and geotechnical infrastructure, alongside the development of delivery, commercial and contracting strategies to support successful project outcomes. Michael is passionate about engineering excellence, collaborative delivery and developing the next generation of engineering professionals.
