Michael has an extensive background in developing major transport infrastructure projects, working for local, sub-national and national bodies over the past 15 years. He currently works for The Coal Authority to deliver environmental mitigation in former coal mining areas. Most notably, he was project director for the A417 Missing Link, a major road enhancement scheme in Gloucestershire. Michael led development of the project from concept to delivery and it under his leadership the project was commended for its unique ‘landscape-led’ design philosophy, and cited as an exemplar in building consensus through partnerships with conservation groups, communities and local authorities.
